History of Vietnamese Tet

Tet is a Vietnamese holiday celebrated on the first day of the lunar month of the Vietnamese Lunar Calendar. The holiday marks the beginning of the year and celebrates a good harvest for that year. 

   

Tet is also known as Tết (pronounced "treh"), which means "the east". During this time, people in Vietnam wear new clothes, visit their family members and friends, and pay respect to their ancestors. They also give gifts to their family members and friends. The traditional greeting to wish your clients a happy new year is "Chuc Mung Nam Moi". This means "Happy New Year" in Vietnamese. This greeting is used to wish good luck and happiness for the new year.

What Are Some Traditional Foods eaten During Tet?

Banh Chưng (sticky rice cake)

Banh Chưng is a Vietnamese dish made from glutinous rice, mung beans, pork and other ingredients. The cake is wrapped in banana leaves and boiled for a few hours. It is usually served during the Tết holiday.

Banh Tét (rice dumplings)

Banh Tet is a traditional Vietnamese dish made of glutinous rice, pork, and mung beans. The dish is wrapped in banana leaves and boiled. The name of the dish is derived from the Tet holiday, which is the Vietnamese New Year.

Thịt Kho (braised pork)

This dish is a Vietnamese favorite. Pork is braised in a savory sauce made with fish sauce, soy sauce, garlic, and sugar. The pork is so tender it falls apart when you touch it. It is served over steamed rice and topped with green onions. People will cook the stew pork belly for 3 days Tet. The pork belly will be cooked for 2 days, then people will cook it again for 1 day, the pork belly will be cooked for 2 days, and it will be served for 3 days.

Don’t know what is the reason that people cook the pork belly 3 times for Tet. But, people will eat the stew pork belly for 3 days. During the Tet holiday market, restaurants will be closed so that is why people cook the stew pork belly and it can be eaten for 3 days of the tet. So, it’s not a bad thing to eat the pork belly for 3 days Tet.

Red envelopes filled with lucky money

Red envelopes filled with money are a popular tradition during the Vietnamese New Year. The envelopes are given to friends and family as a gesture of good luck and prosperity. The amount of money inside the envelope varies, but it is typically enough to help the recipient celebrate the New Year in style.

Food and treats, such as candy and fruits

During Vietnamese New Year, there are many different types of food and treats that are enjoyed. One of the most popular is candy, which is often given as a gift. Another favorite is fruit, which is often eaten as a snack or served as part of a meal. There are many different types of fruit that are enjoyed during this time of year, including lychees, longans, jackfruit, mango, and dragon fruit.

Flowers for Vietnamese New Year 

Flowers are an important part of Vietnamese culture and are often used to celebrate special occasions. One such occasion is Vietnamese New Year, or Tet. During Tet, people often give each other flowers as gifts. Some of the most popular flowers to give during Tet include chrysanthemums, lotuses, and Orchid.

"Câu Đối" 

Equally important, it is a good way of expressing your feelings and wishes. This is also a good way to say farewell to the past year and to the new year. The whole process of writing wishes on the wall is very interesting. It has a history. As you know, Vietnamese New Year's Day is the first day of the lunar year. It is the beginning of the year. 

In ancient times, the Vietnamese people used to write their wishes on the wall of their houses or on the walls of temples. They used to write wishes in large letters with brush and ink. In the past, the ancient Vietnamese people had to write their wishes on the wall. It was a traditional custom. It is the only way to wish their friends and relatives.
